Let me just cite what I wrote about this matter in another forum:

I support the Irish re-unification, but not on the base the Poblacht na hÉireann just swallows up the 6 counties of Ulster that make Northern Ireland. The base must be a common state all Irish can agree with, regardless they are Catholics or Protestants since this is just two fractions of the same misbelief. I am aware Northern Irish Protestants often feel a strong affinity towards the British Crown, fact remains this monarchy is a traitorous and degenrated organization that can be glad there is no English law in force anymore, otherwise the Queen end her bozo of son would end up in The Tower. The Catholics of Northern Ireland, of course, feel a strong affinity towards the Irish Republic, but the leaders of this republic are traitors, their policy does anything but represent their peoples' wishes and dishounours those having sacrified themselves for a free Ireland. I am watching this conflict with both, interest and disgust. My grandma was Protestant and politically rather neutral, of course she was disgusted by British crimes, but on the other hand chasing Protestants for the reason they just are Prots is not nice either. Another aspect is ethnicity, many inhabitants of Northern Ireland do not consider themselves as Irish but as Ulster-Scots. What can be said is all violent options failed, the IRA splinter groups are more or less Marxistic which makes them part of the problem and not of the solution, same goes for the Ulster undergound forces with their pro-zionistic propaganda...
