His idea of the Union of Churches was not that supported by most of his contemporaries, who wanted all Christianity to become either Roman Catholic (ie. recognition of Pope as supreme leader of the Church), or Eastern Orthodox (the Orthodox saw possibility of the reunion of Christianity in terms of acknowledging the equality of all patriarchs, without one supreme head, that is the Orthodox conception of the Church) or Protestant (Church without priesthood and mass).
Comenius wanted some supreme body to be formed, which would consist of "elders" chosen from all these Churches. This sort of a council would be supreme authority in the whole Christianity. The authority of the traditional hierarchy (Pope, bishops, priesthood, patriarchs...) would thus become secondary in importance. This supreme body, chosen from representatives from all Churches, would then lead Christianity in an "Ecumenical" direction and prevent religious conflicts. The true precursor of the modern Ecumenism!
Comernius was also inventor of the modern concept of school education. Just a coincidence?

There can be never be reconcilliation with Judaism or with Islam. Judaism killed jesus and the latter encourages their followers to convert us by any means - including the dhimmi (blood tax) under which they steal children. It is unlikely that there can never be reunion with protestants, considering how heretical they are especially with groups like Mormons, Jehovahs and evangelicals (not only that Martin Luthers followers had some idea's about protestantism being part of Orthodsoxy but it was tejected by the Orthodox church). I can only see some reconcilliation between Orthodoxy and Catholicism, but I doubt reunification will occur -- due to small ideological reasons and bad blood from several previous attempts -- and even then I only see this happenning after internal problems between Churchs within Orthodoxy are solved (which will likely happen with in the next 10 years or less).
